Backyard Wedding

A Backyard Wedding can be a cheap wedding idea or it can be an elegant affair! It's all in the details! These tend to be a very intimate and personal affair, in comparison to the usual banquet hall.

LOCATION: As it says, this should be in a backyard. It could be your own, a relatives, or a good friend's. Ask around, you might be surprised who is willing to give up their backyard for a couple of days to help you with the wedding! As with any outdoor wedding, you are going to need to consider what you will do if it rains. Will you have a tent? And, will you need to rent some tables, chairs, linens, dishes, flatware, and glasses? These are some things to consider. And, to accent, what about some white or colored lights?

THEMES: Just because you're having a Backyard Wedding, doesn't mean you can't have a theme! Look through the following Wedding Themes for some ideas. Decorations, centerpieces, and the whole feel of the wedding are in the theme. You could just go with colors or flowers, but feel free to explore ideas - a backyard wedding doesn't limit your theme in any way - the only limits are your budget and imagination.

THINGS TO CONSIDER:

* Space - How many people will your backyard comfortably fit? Keep in mind that you may also have caterers, etc. in addition to your guest count.

* Parking - Where will the guests park?

* Neighbors - Talk to the neighbors about the wedding. You wouldn't want them calling the cops because of the noise.

* Rentals - What are you going to need to rent to complete the day? Tables? Tent? Chairs? Linens? Dishes? Heaters?

* For catered food - go cheap and do a picnic or hire a fancy caterer! It's up to you!

* Make sure that you prepare for the weather!

* Also, have a First Aid Kit on hand in case anything goes wrong.

* Will there be enough restrooms? You want to answer this question, so you don't have any day of problems.

* On the day of the wedding, ask someone to handle the issues that arise for you - whether it be your mother, a bridesmaid, a relative, or a good friend - even if the wedding is in your backyard, you want to enjoy it, not spend time fielding technical questions!
