Green Weddings

Do Green Weddings interest you? Make your wedding eco-friendly and help keep our environment safe! Here are some ideas to help you start planning!

* RECEPTION: Have an outdoor wedding in a garden or meadow. Have it during the day, so you save electricity. Furthermore, have the reception and ceremony at the same location, so that guests don't need to drive in between them.

* DRESS/TUXEDO: Buy a used/vintage wedding dress. Rent a tuxedo or go vintage on that too.

* INVITATIONS: Make a website, evite, or video invitation instead of sending out wedding invitations. Of course, you may need to send a couple to those who do not have internet access. Be prepared to hear people complain about this. If a traditional invite is a necessity, use recycled paper or use plantable stationary (you plant it and it grows into a flower or tree!).

* CATERER: Hire an organic caterer.

* FLOWERS: Use a florist that buys from organic farmers. And, for the reception, you could just have in in a garden, thus not needing to purchase many flowers. And, for centerpieces, potted plants are great and guests can take themhome.

* REGISTRY: Instead of a registry, have guests donate to your favorite ecological cause.

* THROWING RICE: Instead of rice, throw wildflower seeds.

* FAVORS: For favors, give seeds for the guests to plant their own trees or wildflowers. Or, donate $1-$2 per guest to your favorite charity.
