In general, certain styles look better on certain types of people. Of course, you should try on a variety of styles to see which looks best on you. The general guidelines for choosing your dress are these: Tall: A simple silhouette. Keep it simple, not a lot of embellishments. Straight Lined: Try a sheath dress or a ball gown to help give you more curves. Petite: Trumpet, sheath, and modified A-line gowns. Small Chested: A ruched bodice - add extra fabric up top, to fill out that area. Busty: Scooped neckline or sweetheart neckline. Never get a straight across cut neckline. Pear Shape: skirt that flares, v-neckline or spaghetti strap bodice. Check out A line silhouette dresses. Plus Sized: An empire dress with a skirt that starts beneath the bust and flows to the floor in an A-line. The dress should not be too loose. Apple Shaped: Deep V neckline and a dress that cinches in at the waist and then flows into an A-line. Casual dress: Look at tea length or shorter dresses.
